I inherited a Remington 1100 LW 20g shotgun from a close friend of the family who died a number of years ago. I have used it deer and duck hunting and enjoy it, but don't know much about shotguns and wanted to know more about the gun. Does anyone know what the "LW" stand for? I can't find it on Remington's web site. Also, can anyone give me some pointers on finding out more about it. Any good web sites with histories or information on shotguns? Anything you can tell me about the gun is very much appreciated.
Thanks, Kiffster

LW stands for Light Weight,Kiffster. The 1100 is a "Descendant" of the Remington Model 11, which used the same design as and looked like the Browning Auto-5.

It's a very good shotgun. Trap and skeet shooters use them and it's known for its durability. A friction ring in the action has to be set for either heavy or light loads, but it's a simple matter.

How do you set "the friction ring" in a 1100 ? Your gun is 2 3/4" only right? I never saw a 1100 LW 20 ga. in 3" mag.

Actually, I'm quite sure I've shot 3" mags in the gun.
It's been a couple years so I could be mistaken, but I don't think so.
