Smith Mod 442 +P??

I have a 442 that has a Weigand barrel and therefore, has no caliber indication.
My question is would this be a .38 or .38+P? /the serial no. is: BPJ7509. There is no inscription as to Airweight. The frame appears to be non- to slightly magnetic. Empty weight is 17 oz but the Weigand barrel may account for a difference (New barrel appears to measure 2 1/4"). Any help is more than appreciated.

The 442 is a modern gun (first introduced in the early 90s), and should handle +P ammo without problem.

Enjoy it - I have the stainless version (642) and it is a great pocket gun, though requires practice to use well.

Per S&W customer service, the 442 no dash is not +p rated but the -1 and -2 models are. I have a 442-1 and have fired about 150 +p rounds and have not noticed any unusual wear on the gun.
