Stripper clips

I am going to be getting the strip lula for my mini 14 and thought about trying stripper clips. I figured this would be a good place to get some info on them

Are there different brands?

Is one manufacture better/worse than another?

Where can I find them?

I have seen some sort of loading tool for the stripper clips, is that worth anything or just a gimmick?

All of my stripper clips are surplus military (.223), as are the loading keys.

They work fine.

I had some big plasticy deal the army gave us for those and it was awesome... Up until they went to not using stripper clips anymore. Much better than the little metal keys. There is a trick to stripper clips: load the tab with the letters backwards (on the clip, as you look down) and they'll load more or less flawlessly. As far as where to get them, the lake city brass has them in the 420 round cans (10 rounds per strip, 3 strips per box, 14 boxes per ammo can); you can search 5.56 stripper clips on googl; and I, for some very odd reason, have a ziplock bag full of them in my shed.

I'm interested if you want to get rid of them, that is if they will work with a mini 14

Please explain the loading keys

The loading key (not the proper term) slips onto the magazine. The stripper clip then is inserted into the top of the loading key to allow the rounds to be stripped into the magazine.

I guess the more proper term is stripper clip guide, as shown here:

I THINK the US military first used the guides when the detachable magazine M14 was issued.
