Carrying Beretta 950 safely?

Hi guys I've recently bought two Beretta 950's in .25 acp and want to pocket carry them.

The one model has no safety, the other has the thumb safety (not cross bolt).

Is it safe to carry either with one in the chamber? Is one more safe than the other?

I always carried my 950 with thumb safety condition one in a pocket holster without incident.

This was long ago and I no longer own any pop up barreled pistols.

I have one with out the safety . As I remember the manual states it alright . I carry both mine (I have 1 with safety also) that way .

I carry both in half cock, no safety engaged on the BS. I carry as a lefty and this works for me with one hand.

I carried one for awhile; cartridge chambered, hammer down, safety off. I wouldn't want to drop it hammer down as I'm not sure it's dropsafe, but it's otherwise safe to carry that way.

Does the half cock provide any protection against dropping the gun?

On the model 950 B (non thumb safety) engaging the half-cock hammer acts as a safety (unload the weapon, half-cock the hammer, and try to pull the trigger). I haven't spent as much time with my BS, so I am not 100% sure the half cock engages a safety- I know it does not on the Tomcat...

I own 2 model 950's, both Minx's in .22 short, with the 950B in 2" barrel and the 950BS in 4" barrel.

They're wonderful little guns. I've also reserved a Minx and a long barrel model 71.

The Minx's are fun little plinkers, but I don't carry them for SD- .22 short is just absolutely too small.

Which is why I got a Tomcat...

I teach my kids with the Minx - you're rights it's just too small for SD.

On the B and BS, I believe yes. On the 950 - I think No.

I always carried mine hammer down safety off.
With the tilt up barrel you don't have to worry about lowering the hammer onto a round, and it was small enough that I didn't have a hard time thumbing back the hammer while drawing it.
