Using large pistol primers for Rifle loads i.e., .308, 25-06..etc.?
Is this okay to do Thanks in advance!!

NO.
Diferent dimensions AND the pistol primers are softer. Can easily get primer ruptures at rifle pressures. Sam |

What Sam says in SPADES!
Depending on make, the primer cups are either softer metal or are thinner metal. Either way, you can have ruptured primers, which in a high intensity rifle cartridge can be a very bad thing.

Thanks to all for your quick replies. I just thought it might be okay, I have a lot of LPP and I don't feel like spending $$ right now. 'guess I'll just chill for now and save $$ for LRP. Thanks again! This place is great!

DON'T!!!
Pistol primer have a softer anvil than rifle. There is a chance of puncturing the primer with the rifle's firing pin or that the pistol primer is not hot enough to set off the rifle powder. You might get away with using pistol primers in SQUIB LOADS, with pistol powders. |
