Hi People,

I just picked up a Police trade in Model 60 Chiefs Special in great shape and a great price.

My Buddy just received a Smith and Wesson Model 36?, factory nickel plated, with a pinned barrel, 2", in like new condition. It's really nice. His Uncle left him it.

#1 is this a 36? #2 How much is it worth?

Thanks for the help!

About 2 years ago I picked up a model 36 nickel like you describe for $290 from a guy that was selling off his collection , it was in the old "Bangor Punta" 2 piece cardboard box with the metal reinforced corners , I think that was a fair price . It was unfired and had the old one piece fold out owners manual . The old models are nice to collect but I feel the new models are superior in quality and smoothness . Good luck , Mike...

Butch,

Could very well be a Model 36.

It could also be a 37 Airweight.

They made the 36s and 37s in both blue and nickle finishes and they are sweet guns and a joy to own. I own both but prefer my Model 60 stainless round but. The favorite is my Dad's square butt Model 36 that remains unfired even 11 years after his death. That is probably my favorite keepsake of all.
