I've only bought 2 guns this year. My new home defense revolver is a S&W Model 21 Classic in .44 Special. Buttery smooth action and came with Houge rubber grips. Had no idea the ammo to feed this beast would be so expensive and dropped the cash for a reloading die.
Also picked up a brand new Maverick 88 shotgun for $200. Fired some buckshot through it last week to see how it would pattern. Just the thing to keep the boogey man away. I'm saving up for my first 1911 sometime next year. |

The Ruger SR 1911 I bought in April was my first 1911. Fit and finish are perfect. 1500 rounds later it has performed flawlessly, and the accuracy is all that I could ask for.

P-01 for me!! I always wanted to handle one but have never seen one. Then my LGS recieved two of them a couple of months ago. Picked one up and fit like a glove. I have only had a hundred or so rounds through it but not one problem. Put the thin aluminum grips on it this week and soon as I have more round thpugh it I will be my EDC.

I have gone for many years of shooting without ever owning a Glock. I have or have had M&Ps and XDms, CZs Rugers, several 1911s etc.
My shooting buddy let me shoot his Glock G20, it was ok, so I decided to buy one. Got a 40cal conversion barrel for it and have been shooting it ever since in the local action pistol shoots etc. I never thought a gun with a "toy" like spongy trigger, would ever be the gun I shoot the best. A G21 Gen 4 followed shortly there after. I am not selling any of the other guns that I own, but the Glocks are getting the most use these days.

For me,it was my Pawn shop High point 995 9mm carbine. Tok it home, ordered the new TS stock for it and rebuilt it. That little carbine is the most fun I've had in 40 years of shooting. Amazingly accurate at 25 yards too. Going to take it to the rifle range and wring it out at 50 and 100 yards. I enjoy this little carbine.

two have impressed me this year
(1) a 9 inch barrel Ruger Super Red Hawk in 44 mag. My wife always wanted one, so I got her one for Christmas. I was expecting a lot, but this weapon has exceeded my expectations. Very accurrate, so much so that i put a scope on it. This big boy really soaks up the recoil. Hot loads (1300 ft-lb) are quite manageable. Deer season starts next week, and she is really looking forward to it. (2) an early gen-2 Glock 17. I have owned if for 20 years, but I had not shot it for several years. So this year I re-acquainted myself with this old friend. Glock really had their act together when they built this gun. It is the most accurate Glock I own, and is almost as accurate as my 1911. It has had so many rounds through it that everything about it is silky smooth. At the time I bought it, I shot it better than any other handgun I had ever shot. Today, that is almost still true. There are only a few guns I shoot better in rapid fire. It was $375 new in 1991. |

Hands down - the Caracal. I have the F model. Amazing pistol for the money that surpasses many of the better known 9mms that are more expensive...

My East German Mak was my carry gun for a long time. Very happy with that one. The finish is so much nicer than the Russian ones being imported. But, the one that surpassed expectations has to be the SCCY CPX-2 I bought. Easy to carry and dependable as any other fire I've owned. I started to CC back in the mid 70's, so I've had more than a few.

My Baby Desert Eagle .45 that I picked up in May. From the second I held it, I knew I would like it more than a Glock, Sig, or any of the other various manufacturers I was looking at. But ever since that 3 day waiting period ended, I have been blown away by how smooth and accurately it shoots (even though the shooter is neither ). During that waiting period, I had a little bit of buyer's remorse, thinking that maybe I should've gone with a 9mm with a lower price tag and that would be less expensive to shoot. About 15 minutes after I got home with it, that feeling disappeared entirely and hasn't come back since. I have a feeling that for the rest of my life there will probably be some guns that walk out of my life as quickly, easily, and impulsively as they came in, but my Baby will be with me til I can no longer shoot it.

Walther PPQ has created a new standard in polymer guns. Build quality, accuracy, and reliability have a new standard all at bargain price. That trigger OMG that tigger.
My HK and Glock, all seem oudated in comparison and they have been modded and still aren't as good as a stock PPQ. |

SR40c, awesome packin pistol around the farm, horseback riding, fishing, etc. Coyote accurate at 50 yards, haven't tried it further yet. Eats hard cast LSWC like a fat kid on a bag of M&M's.

I'm tempted to say Rock Island .45 Tactical, but after reading all about them, reviews and all, I expected it would perform as good as it has.
And it has indeed. NIB. And first rate from the box. dc |

Shield 9mm. Snatched one up 2nd day they were released for sale, so no reports on the forums yet. I wouldn't have been surprised if it gave me problems being a new design, compact 9mm. Figured S&W would make it right if it did have issues. But it has been flawless, and I'm as accurate with it at 15 yds as with my full size M&P9.

When I bought my Ruger SR22P, I thought it would be another marginal 22 plinker/jam-a-matic. I was pleasantly surprised as it is worth a lot more as a trainer for the pile of SD pistols that I own and shoot!
It's also 100% reliable, accurate and a great gun to shoot! It was worth every dime that I paid for it. Flash |

Mosin-Nagant 91/30 (1939 Izzy)...I bought it because it was cheap ($99) with cheap ammo (20/$5) and it had a history.
I absolutely love shooting it. So much that I've made my Marlin .30-30 a safe queen. It doesn't kick like i expected ( it kicks like a goat and not a mule) but it goes BOOM in a very satisfying manner. They are cheap enough that Ive bought 3 for friends and might buy a couple as Christmas presents. At these prices it is an essential for every collection. |
