Sig 1911

I was in a local gunshop the other day and was showed a Sig 1911 5.11 limited edtion tactical model. The gun looked sweet and I loved the grip and feel of it. It also had VTAC Sights which I loved the looks of. Was told it had everything 5.11 visible on it, and that the trigger was refined to have a lighter break. He said it retailed for $1600 and was on sale for $1400.

Is it worth it? I don't know too much about 1911's and I don't want to pay extra for just advertisement, as all i know is its purely cosmetic differences other than his word on it having a trigger job as well.

If not this one, then I'd get a emporer scorpion fastback carry. Basically the same gun to me, only without everything 5.11, and minus the sights that i'd want. This gun can be bought for around $1000, plus $175 for sights.

Does anyone know anything about these two, or even have them? I love the looks of this style and want to end up with one. Just not sure if the 5.11 edition is worth it.

Of your two choices presented, I'd go for the ES Fastback Carry personally. The 5.11 is so branded with their logo it kills it for me. (I own 41 Sigs currently).
The 5.11 is dc'd so I'd look on GB and see if there are any for sale and see what their going prices are. There may be some collectors out there who would want one and if I could pick one up at a low enough price and find a demand for it, I'd turn around and sell it. However, I don't see your LGS selling for their cost or below so you can do that.
Good luck on your decision and don't rule out Sig's other 1911's.

Not being a fan of tactical handguns, at least as far as looks; I'd go for some of the other SIG 1911's. Had to give up shooting .45 ACP, so I recently sold my 1911 .45 MAXX and my 1911 .45 Target. Both excellent guns.

I wouldn't buy a "1911" that won't fit in a lot of 1911 holsters, and dispenses with proven parts.

Get the Emperor Scorpion. I wouldn't pay extra for the 5:11. BTW, SIG makes one of the best 1911's available today.
