Load Question
I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to what might be a good starting point in working up an accurate BP load for the Lee 200 gr. conicals in a ‘58 Remington.

Put as much powder in the chamber as you can and still seat the bullet.

The Traditions revolver manual calls for a minimum of 19 grains fffg and a maximum of 25 grains fffg powder for loading with conicals.
http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/cm...ver_manual.pdf ZVP describes the 200 grain Lee loaded with 35 grains of powder as being a very stout load with a lot of recoil. http://thefiringline.com/forums/show...&highlight=lee |

I have the 20, 23, 25, 27, & 30 grain spouts. At 30 grains there is no room for a lube wad under the conical. I like 30grs when I need a "thumper" to tip over a big faller. The conicals shoot higher than the balls. I'd start at 20grs and work my way up to 30. I smear BP lube into the groves of the conicals.

Thanks for the info. I have a spout that throws 23 gr of BP, so I think I’ll start there. I am going to give those conicals a whirl today.

Haven't tried them in a .44 but round balls are more accurate in my .36's.
