Beretta 92 slide mod

Is there a slide you can put on 92 to replace the open top slide

Why would you want to do that?

It's the reason I won't buy a Beretta. I slingshot the slide when I reload and always end up burning my pinkie finger on the exposed barrel.

That's like asking if you can get a regular roof for a soft top convertible. My advice would be to buy a different car, or in this case gun.

Most every modern convertible is a hardtop

Venom - wow.

The depth of knowledge on this site is incredible. Plus we all got a neat picture of a Volvo to boot.

I don't know about mods for it, but I modified my technique with the Beretta a long time ago. I burned myself a few times on the hot barrel also, I was also very good at putting the safety to the on position when I racked the slide, as well as pinching part of my hand as the slide closes.

What I do to rack the slide, I turn my wrist 90 degrees so the mag well faces to my right (I mostly shoot RH). This allows me to easily grab on to both sides of the safety/de-cocker lever with my left hand, and stay away from the hot barrel.

I pull firmly back until the slide stops and then just release it. I have been doing it like this on the Beretta so long that it is just like breathing, I don't even have to think about it.

Slingshotting isn't for every gun no matter how many "experts" teach it as the only way. It also requires two hands. I'll never understand why it is so popular now.

I do it because it's easier and faster than trying to get purchase on a small sliver of metal to operate the slide release.

Probably why I added the "soft top" clarifier?

Idk, I personally find it and the overhand method a little easier than trying to hit the nub of a slide stop that most pistols have, especially since the slide stop/release isn't universally in the same spot depending on the pistol. What other guns does the slingshot method not work for? I'd appreciate some "expert" advice.
