Which 1911 is best for IPSC Standard Division?

I prefer 1911 style pistols because here in our place, they are the only kind of pistol that has available parts.

Any one that goes bang every time. I assume you mean limited-10 class, ten round mags and iron sights. Get good mags and practice. I saw too many people yesterday that couldn't make their gun function. Personally I was doing my poor shooting with a 57 yr old USGI gun that was way more up to the task than I was. Only mods are sights, trigger, ambi since I'm a lefty and Wilson mags. I'll say it again, Wilson mags! Get a steel basepad, they don't break and the mag drops nicer and lands on the basepad.

no not limited-10 class. I think the standard class in IPSC is called limited class in USPSA.

This is the criteria:

Move ladies belt loops Yes
Compensators No
Ports No
Optics No
Fit in box Yes, with magazine inserted
.40 minimum caliber for major Yes
Specific holster position Yes
Modifications allowed Yes
Production guns only No

Minimum caliber for firearms is 9mm.
Minimum caliber for major power factor is 10 mm (.40 inches).
Any complete handgun or components produced by a factory and available to the general public.
Prototypes are specifically not allowed.
Changing caliber from the factory standard is specifically not allowed.
Electronic sights, or optical sights (one or more lenses with a diameter greater than 9.5mm), porting of barrels or compensators are specifically not allowed.
External modifications such as weights, or devices to control or reduce recoil are specifically not allowed.
External modifications which are specifically allowed:
Replacement of slides, provided the replacement slide profiles the factory standard.
Replacement of sights with metal sights.
Replacement of safeties. Ambidextrous safeties are approved.
Replacement beavertail grip safeties are approved.
Replacement of hammers.
Replacement of magazine release buttons.
Replacement of slide stops.
Enlargement of ejection ports.
Enlargement or replacement of magazine wells.
Checkering of frames.
Alteration of grip safety and grip tang.
Cosmetic enhancements that do not give a competitive advantage such as custom grips, plating, etc.
Internal modifications to improve accuracy, reliability, and function, are allowed, e.g. replacement barrels.
Any unloaded handgun in its ready condition with magazines inserted must fit within the confines of a box with the dimensions of 225 mm x 150 mm x 45 mm (tolerance of +1 mm, -0 mm).
The holster and allied equipment i.e., speed loaders and magazine pouches, must comply with existing rules and must be worn behind the anterior superior spina iliaca or the highest, most forward point on the pelvic girdle. The maximum inside distance of the handgun and equipment may not be more than 50 mm from the competitor's torso while standing relaxed. Range Master may use reasonable discretion.

If you want a 1911 to start with Springfeild Loaded or a Para Limited are good ways to go. Dawson Precision has a enhanced model race ready of the Para-14 or 16. The Para is real easy to find hi-caps for limited. If you have a bigger cash flow SVI and STI make great limited guns. The STI Edge is ready for limited. I would take the advice about the mags. Make sure you go factory and for the single stack Wilson is hard to beat.

Shock, Jonny Lim just opened a Limcat shop in Cebu. He makes some of the best IPSC pistols. He mainly uses the STI/SV high capacity 1911 pistols. Check out www.limcat.com . I just ordered one of his limited guns yesterday from his shop in Reno, Nevada.

from what i have seen, the most popular are the Para Ordnance 16-40 Ltd, with a bit of tuning (trigger, sights, magwell, aluminum mag base pads, tungsten guide rod, pinned grip safety, and skateboard tape)

and from there most guys will go to a bull barrel and more...
