Savage 220

Last week I purchased a new Savage 220 20ga., bolt action, fully rifled, slug gun. I got it cleaned up when I realized the 3 position safety would not go on. It was stuck in the fire or non-safe mode. Tried every combination of bolt position, cocked and uncocked with out any luck. I would sure like to get it
squared away for the the remaining 2 weeks of firearms season. I'll send it back to Savage when hunting season is over.

I noticed on page 5 of the manual the function of the 3 position safe differs between the 212 and 220 models.... wonder why?
