fore end problem/Weatherby Orion (SKB) 20 ga.

Encountered a problem today when I tried to assemble the Orion.
Last time out, two weeks ago for some Trap, the gun went together normally. Today, the fore end will not seat; the latch will not close. The forend seats normally on the unmounted barrels. The barrels mount normally and tight to the receiver. When, however, I attempt to mount the fore end to the assembled gun, there is a tiny gap where the wood meets a small boss on the breech end of the barrels. About 1/32" gap.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is are welcome.
Pete

My 505 will give me that issue now and again - I found I didn't have it seated just square enough for everything to engage just right
