OK to dry fire a Mossberg 500

Is it ok to dry fire a Mossberg 500, or will it damage the gun?

Perfectly OK to dry fire.

Shotguns get dry fired A LOT when in police use.
Some guns that get issued to an outgoing watch get dry fired thousands of times in their service life.
