.45 and 9mm 231 loads
I just bought a pound of 231 to use in 9mm and .45 ACP loads. For some reason I haven't ever used 231 even though I've been told it's amazing for years.
In .45 ACP I'm using a 200 gr SWC In 9mm I'm using a 115 gr JHP CCI primers with both. |

Both loads are listed at the Winchester powder data site for 231 and your bullet weights. I recommend you read the load data from the sight and work up from the min load.

Yeah... I have that manual but I was just wondering if anyone has any of their own personal favorite loads and any data they have on those loads. Sorry... should've been more specific

5.3grs for the .45 200gr SWC
5.0 grs for the 9mm and 115 gr JHP The 45 load is dead on and I would not be afraid to use it for self defense. The 9mm load is almost max so work up |

I also use the 5.3 for the 45. I'm not sure on the 9mm because all I load is lead. For a nice easy lead load in the 9 try 4.0 under a 125 LRN.

I use 5.2 of 231 in 45 SWC 200 and 4.8 in 9MM 115 JHP. Very accurate loads in my guns. Always start low and work up to find the perfect load for your guns. I do not like to use max loads in any gun because they are hard on guns and not that accurate.

W231 is my favorite pistol powder.
I use 4.9 for 200gr lead 45 I use 4.4 for 115gr FMJ 9mm (1037 fps on the chrony) Both of these are reduced loads. Make sure they can cycle the action in the guns you use before loading a bunch of them. |

5.6g W231 / H&G#68 200g LSWC (5.9g makes over 175 PF in every gun tested).
Use published data for the 9mm.

Want to clarify the first load just above my post is for the .45 ACP.
W231 doesn't impress me much in either. I like WSF or HS6 for either. WSF hands down winner if you're shooting lead. |
