Would storing my hand guns in soft pistol cases like a Takecover with the Microlube liner keep them from rusting in a fireproof safe?

On the belt and suspenders principle, toss in a bag of silica gel dessicant, which takes moisture out of the air. Replace it every few months.

I agree with Po Boy on the Golden Rods. I've been using one in my safe in both low and high humidity environments and have yet to see any rust in 16 years of use.
They draw very little current (25W, I think)and are quite economical. |

Thanks for theinfo, guys.Golden Rod with the silica gel sounds good. Can't be too careful. Would wrapping them loosely in silicone coated gun cloth interfere with air circulation. Hate to put the boys in there nekkid.

I wouldn't bother wrapping them. The Golden Rods work by raising the temperature of the gun metal inside the safe a degree or two over the outside air temp, thereby preventing any rust.
