You need to keep in mind that what is done on a production basis requires repeatability and consistency in the final product, and often a strictly defined and required degree of hardening.


What can be accomplished with hand work for hardening (like 'spot hardening') is not going to be as consistent in the final outcome, but still may be adequate for the intended application.

Ok no problem
As posted by others I think a total heat treat with draw over pin holes
Only problem is to do that right needs holding fixture and a oven.

Your best bet would be to harden rails and spot treat pin holes with a torch and bucket of quenching oul
