Iver Johnson 12 gauge single shot ?'s

I was cleaning out my Grandma's old storage shed yesterday and happend to stumble an old shotgun that she wasn't even aware that she had. It's a single shot 12 gauge and the lettering on it is rather difficult to read but it says that it's an Iver Johnson Champion. I've never heard of the gun before or the brand. I made the comment to one of my friends that it looked like something from 1920 and I did a littloe research on the net to find one that looks basically just like mine but it's a 16 gauge and it was manufactured in 1919. It's definately not in the best condition seeing that the firing pin doesnt retract because the spring is broken. I suppose I could get it repaired. I don't know if it's worth it. Anyway, can someone tell me about this gun? I also have the patent numbers from it: PATD APR'01 and APR.15'02 if that helps. Does anyone know what I can do as far as finding a replacement part for the pin. Any information about this gun will be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys....aC

here is a picture of a similar gun...don't have my cam in town right now:

It was made by Iver Johnson in Fitchburg, Ma., which was the neighboring town to me when growing up in the 50's. In fact, my first shotgun was just like this, in 16 ga. I paid $15.00 for it, and wish I still had it as a momento!

Iver Johnson

I have the same gun. My Grandpa bought it after Korea to shoot rabbits on the farm. He gave it to my dad who gave it to me. I put some new parts in it from http://www.e-gunparts.comand it shoots great. Pretty fun to shoot.
