does anyone know how I can find out how old my granddad's model 1897 serial#
clo54xx is? thanks for the help.

Winchester Model 1897s initially had 5 digit serial numbers and went to 6 digits in 1900. Your seven digit alphanumeric fits nether scheme. Did you get the number from the bottom of the receiver's front band?

Yeah, but I stored the number on my phone. I may have accidentally entered another digit. Ill try to check it again today. Thanks for your help
