For the 200 lswc in .45 acp, I use Solo 1000. Between 4.1 and 4.6 grs. Lower charge for "target" loads, higher for steel, etc.
Also Bullseye is awful hard to beat, but the Solo burns a lot cleaner. Cat |

For .45ACP with a 200 grain LSWC, I've been using either 4.5 grains of AA#2 or 3.9 grains of Bullseye. These are both definitely target loads. You may, especially with the 3.9 of Bullseye, have to use a lighter weight recoil spring if it stovepipes.
Hope this helps. Pete |

Don't have the charge weight, but WW 231 worked great for me.
And that's a powder that Olin just might *NOT* discontinue in the foreseeable future... |

I've had excellent results with Winchester Super Target (WST). I use 4.3gr with a 200gr LSWC.

I use 5.2gr and 6.2 gr of unique for 200gr swc. The 5.2 groups a little better.

Thanks guys.
I tried unique, W231 and WSF. They all tended to burn a little dirty and lots of smoke. I'm used to using Power Pistol for 9mm and .357 sig. I've never shot lead before. Is the lube part of the "dirty" burning problem? Couldn't find any Solo 1000 yet. Does WST burn any cleaner than the W231 and WSF ? Accuracy was good with all three. Consistantly got sub 1" groups with the 200 gr LSWC's at 15 yds. rested( the old eyes don't do so good at 25). 1 1/2" or smaller free hand. I think the Kimber does most of the work. I just sort of show it the general direction of where I want the bullets to go. Thanks again, and any more information would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe...Join the NRA...Jim L. |

James L,
Yepper, the lube is a large part of the smoke. More lube, more smoke, dirtier gun. If only this were a perfect world... Cat |

James L,
My experience with WST has been that it burns pretty clean. I think the problem you're having comes from the bullet lube. Considering the cost of lead vs. jacketed, I'll clean the gun more often. |

I,like Cheapo, use WW231 and have so for many years. Depending on which gun I am using, it is loaded between 4.9- 5.3 grains. I get superb accuracy from my HK.
I feel it's a great powder for my needs. Good Luck! DDS |
