Loads for .223 with 52gr TNT and H335?
I have some 52gr Speer TNT HPs and H335. I found info in my Speer manual on 50gr bullets, but no 52s. Any info with charge weight and OAL would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You either misread or you are flat out wrong. TNT bullets only come in 50 and 55 gr 22 cal offerings. Speer offers their 52gr bullet MHP in 1K bulk packs like the TNT bullet comes in.

Whether or not you're correct about the bullet weight, 2gr. won't make a hill of beans difference, if you're properly working up loads. Go with the load data for 50gr. bullets and work your loads up. The optimum o.a.l. will depend on your rifle. If you're shooting from an AR, that'll be right around 2.260", which is about as long as the mags will allow.
Buy the Stoney Point tool and figure out how far out you can seat a particular bullet before it touches the lands of your rifle, then back off a few thousandths and start experimenting. A load that works for my rifle probably won't be optimum for your rifle. On the other hand, I've loaded a bunch of H335 in .223s. If you just want a load, I'd have to throw out 26.8gr. |
