124 MG FMJ in 9mm @1.120 OAL need TG recipe
Looking to find a charge weight some of you are using with a 124 FMJ in 9mm @ ~1.120 OAL.
I found a box (500) 124 FMJ's I picked up in a trade about a year ago (forgot I even had them). A shooting buddy loads on a 550 and has loaned me the dies and conversion, so I'm good to go. I would use Hodgdon published data, but their page detailing 9mm data has some strange errors on it, and it makes me wonder if whoever posted the info there was awake that day. I don't usually load 9mm, but I have the brass laying around from range scrounging, the bullets are here, I can spare the primers and got about 1/2 a can of TG that I need to use up. It'll give me a chance to pull the HiPower clone out of moth balls without a trip to Wally World. 4.2gr has been suggested Thanks for the feedback BigSlick

*Thumbs through load book.*
Hmmmm. According to the sierra book, 125 grain sierra FMJ OAL= 1.090, Titegroup starts at 3.7 grains at 1000FPS and goes to 4.4 grains at 1150, so your numbers sound good. Never shot TG in 9mm, so never shot this load. 4.2 grains TG at 1.120 OAL sounds safe to me... ***EDITED*** The speer book lists a 124 grain (Spire point) load at 1.120, the max is at 4.4 of TG for 1095 FPS, they start at 4.0 grains TG for 1020 FPS. 4.2 grains TG at 1.120 sounds perfect.
