Scope/Night Vision question
OK, I realize there are some types of red dot sights that have NV settings that will allow you to still see the lit reticle while wearing NV goggles.
However, I was wondering if there is a way to take a scope with a lighted reticle that does NOT have this ultra low setting and modify it so that it will allow you to use your NV goggles while using the scope. I know this sounds rather "cheap", but couldn't you use some sort of filter material over the ocular lens to seriously reduce the amount of light coming through the ocular from the lighted reticle? Perhaps an IR filter, or just a really dark piece of polarized material like that used in sunglasses? |

You might have some difficulty using a regular scope for this application but perhaps try a 'scout' scope with bigger eye relief because technically your eyes would be further away from the scope and since there is no real magnification for nightvision goggles (?)... then I am to assume the extra distance between your eye and scope would pose a problem unless you had a larger relief scope.
Not sure how familiar you are but scout scopes (they might have another name) are ones that are usually mounted in front of the action on a rifle... but I don't think they would work to well if you didn't have night vision on and they were mounted in the usual rifle position.
