20 inch rifle-sighted cylinder bore 870 barrel?

Remington sells a 20inch rifle-sighted barrel but it comes with an improved cylinder choke. They also sell it threaded for choke tubes and you could buy a cylinder choke. FWIW, I've found better buckshot performance with IC instead of cylinder and use an IC choke tube in my 20" 870 barrel for deer hunting.

My cylinder bore HD 870 patterns one brand 00 into 20-24" at 25 yards, but it has forcing cone work and does better than most. I may get the thing tubed one of these days, but admit it runs low on my priorities.

Darn near all shotguns can use a touch of choke to round out the patterns, straight cylinder bore patterns are kinda erratic. Even .0002-3" will usually help things out. In fact, most "Cylinder" bores have that much.

In this case, I'd go for a tubed bbl and experiment...

The 870 is for HD, but I want to be able to use slugs and can't afford ghostring sights. Right now there is a full choke 28 inch barrel on it I'll sell that barrel or use it for skeet.

Improved cylinder or cylinder work equally well with slugs in my experience. I note less of a difference caused by choke than by the brand of slug. My deer gun likes Brenneke and Challenger slugs but everyone's gun is different. My HD guns shoots Brenneke and Federal Tactical slugs best.

I purchased a 20" Remington bbl for my 870 a few years ago, presume they still make them. It has rifle sights, and is threaded for choke tubes. I have killed a number of turkeys with a Hastings choke tube, but you can just as easily put in a IC for slugs or buckshot. I would definately get a barrel with choke tubes.
