Desert Eagle with red dot sight

I've been thinking about mounting one of those red dot sights on my Desert Eagle 44mag. Anybody have any experience with this? Do the sights hold up under the recoil? What about mounting hardware, can the sights be mounted on the Mark VII style barrel? Thanks.

It cost me another $123 to set up a Leupold properly so it would take DE recoil. You'll get no support from Leupold; that's a fact you should consider if you're thinking about the Leupold Red Dots.

red dot vs. recoil

Hey uglymofo,
Thanks for the response. Noticed your other post after I made mine. If Leopold sights need that kind of mounting system to hold up, I doubt if any others will be any better. I think I'll pass on the whole idea unless somebody else has a better idea that they know works.

Hey RGDZorro,

You're welcome.

You know, Leupold techs belatedly recommend ALL scopes mounted on .357's and larger use "at least 3 rings", and Gilmoresports has a warning on their site about mounting the LG series on Ruger 44's and Casulls--it makes you wonder, just what guns can they recommend the Red Dot for??

Red Dot Sites

I have a Millett Red Dot on a Taurus Raging Bull in 454 Casull.
I've fired about 100 rounds with no problems. It has 2 rings that came with the site.
