llama 380

looking to find out how old my llama iii-a 380 is.looks to be very old.but llama website cant tell me nothing.any ideas?theres a date of purchase of 1969 on the box written in ink and the owner but no other dates

The old Llama in .380 was not importable under GCA 68. After a hiatus for redesign, the gun got vent rib, a loaded indicator, "target" stocks, and adjustable sights, thus gaining enough "points" for importation to be resumed in 1972. So I think your pistol dates from that time at the earliest.

Not a bad little gun. No world beater, and a bit soft like almost all Spanish pistols, but perfectly serviceable for anything like reasonable use. Pretty accurate, too. I would say a lot better made that some of the Llamas that have come out recently.

One feature on the .380 Llamas is that they use a locked breech, as in a typical 1911 design. IIRC, in .32 and .22, the same sized guns were blowbacks.

on my box it has the guys name who purchased it back in 68 with the date written on the box when he purchased it.mine doesnt have adjustable sites either and it has wooden grips also so i think its older than the 70s from what i can see.no loaded champer indicator either
