S&W 617 Problem - Cylinder Release
When attempting to release the cylinder on a 617, and, having the release/latch as far forward as possible, the cylinder seems to be difficult to release. It will release, but it takes a bit more pressure to do so and certainly more than other revolvers require.
Great revolver and very accurate. Thanks - monty Last edited by montelores; November 5, 2010 at 08:18 AM. |

Check and make sure the extractor rod has not become unscrewed and is binding on the front lug. Note that it has left hand threads (which were supposed to prevent that problem) so you have to screw it "backwards" if it has come loose.
