I had seen these revolvers mentioned in threads but never looked into them. At present I do not have money to spend on one as there are many cartridge revolvers higher on my list. Is this a reasonable price though? Gun looks amazing. Even if I did not shoot it much it might be a nice gun for some sort of display. Good enough reason to pencil it in on the long list...

$500 for a 5 1/2" SS fixed sight with white grips is market price, neither good nor bad.

Well i'll be the first to say that its a little high. They are VERY good pistols and i absolutly love mine, but $500 is a little steep. I paid a lot less than that for mine, but mine is blued and was obviously used alot when i got it.
Maybe it being stainless makes it worth more, i dont know, but to me a ROA is worth between $250 and $450 depending on condition.

Being out of production has driven their price up so the price is probably about fair. That particular model is simply fantastic.

n i b R o A listed at 600 .00 in the last 2008 catalog ruger ad,thats not alot of money for a lifetime of shooting pleasure,they are the most sought after percussion pistol,and they dominate percussion target matches.

For a used one in excellent shape that comes with original papers and Ruger box I would put that particular model in the $425 to $475 price range....or $500 if you just gotta have it.

You might want to check the Gunbroker.com to see how these things are moving.
The short barrel fixed sights don't come up as often as the other models, but I bet you can find one or two to do a comparison. Course, you would be looking for a buy-it-now or you might watch auctions that are ending soon to see what they are selling for. Danged fine pistols.

Ive aquired 2 of them,and dont plan to stop looking to own every configureation made, ill even dare to use a stainless model on a planned alaska samon trip,as bear insurance, near 44 mag performance,and it is as beautiful as it is deadly

Last one I saw on Gunbroker went for $800 in an auction format. I bid it up to $475 and never got a smell.

The particular gun in the ad above was represented as being new in the box and unfired.
The owner said that he had paid $550 for it new and that they're getting as hard to find as hen's teeth! I paid more than that for mine unfired which cost me $600. When opportunity knocks you either love it or you leave it!

For $525 shipped, its serial # sure has some great numbers!

I do have another one of the exact same model which also has some great serial numbers, and I have refrained from shooting it. But now that I have this second one I'm getting psyched up to take the plunge and begin shooting with one of them.
And I do use APP when I shoot revolvers because it's cleaner and less corrosive. So the time to shoot one is getting closer and I'll make sure to report about it. Believe you me, sometimes the longer a persons waits the sweeter it is! But first I want to replace the white grips with black rubber Pachmyar Presentation's that I have which are not as pretty but are very comfortable, supportive and less slippery. |
