Because some states still have AWB's that mirror the Fed AWB that sunset in 2004.

Pre-ban still has validity to those stuck in those states.

Those of us in free Fly-over America, though, can buy new stuff that is post-post-ban, or whatever it's called. I just call it "normal."

why do places like midwayUSA still say it?
It's for the states where it matters. You can have a pre-ban rifle in CA with features not legal on rifles made after the ban enacted.

...the word "assault" is just one translation from the German "sturm".
So is my "Sturm" & Ruger 10|22 a real "Assault" rifle? Lol. That would be cool.

Right, but i'm from DuPage county, not that awful place, so not QUITE chicagoland, more like chicago-burbs.

Cook has that stupid handgun ban in effect. Though that doesn't affect me, being in Illinois sucks without concealed carry laws. I dont really like this state but what can i do?

get a Saiga 12. The more "evil" features it gets, the more "good" it is in the eyes of the law. To make as ergonomic as designed, this requires x number of US made parts, always involving a extra capacity magazine (cause it gives you 3 in one and you need anyway) that would have prevented importation. Parts not found on imported guns since 1989.
I didn't say evil to make fun of politicians. LOL look at some of Chaos's products, Tromix skull bolt handle with red eyes, etc. The Saiga aftermarket industry likes being the antithesis of gun control, and turning the laws against themselves.
As is, they outperform a Street Sweeper or USAS 12, which the ATF decided out of the blue years after the AWB halted their production, to classify them as NFA Destructive Devices, as in 20mm cannon, LAW rocket, RPG or 60mm mortar. There is satisfaction in having something I know they are furious that is available for purchase and modification.
