Which size wad punch?
Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade from my harbor freight 7/16" .44 wad punch to a drill press mounted one from buffalo arms. I'm a little confused on which size to get, .450 or .451? I'm thinking .450. Here's a link to their punches: http://www.buffaloarms.com/drill_pre...s_pr-4113.aspx Thanks

either would work fine.
under 44 rifle they aren't saying if cartridge where a wads is needed sometimes,as a filler or a muzzleloader where the bore is .440 and uses a patch not a wad but the 44 uses a .450 wad just as the .45 cal would you would think. although most copper clad 45 colts are actually .452 depending on make etc. but most 44 caliber revolvers have a chamber diameter of .446 to .449 (granted not all do). thus the .451 would be a good snug fit in the chamber, and be tight enough down the bore to theoretically help clean the grooves which many times are about .450 to .456 so in this case yep any of the three would work. Mine happens to be the .451 and have used it several years for wads in all my revolvers. Note: get a good used rubber floor mat as a backing, so you don't dull it as easily.Actually I have a piece of Electricians insulating mat. Thank you, sounds like .451 is the one to go with.

I took the Harbor Fright 67030 hex drive set, opened it up to the id that I wanted. Use it in a hand drill. I can crank them out on a chunk of 2x4 over a waste basket while sitting watching football. Just lazy I guess, but warm.
