Shotgun slug myths!
I have heard that full power slugs do not penetrate as deep as reduced velocity slugs. The myth is that there is so much energy being dumped that the energy severly deforms the slug and and thus reduces its penetration.
Where as a reduced velocity slug does not deform as much and therefore penetrates deeper. Is this true or do I just hang around to many old geezers that drink too much?

The latter. Even so...
Slug penetration can depend on several variables. You can have full power slugs that expand or flatten more when hitting the target and as a result have to move more tissue to penetrate and therefore may not penetrate as deeply as a slug that did not expand as much that might have come from a lower powered cartridge.
