Mossberg 500 Questions
Is there a difference between the 500 and the 500A? Are they the same? If not, are the parts interchangable?
Also I have a 500A, 6 shot, folding stock and I don't have the money to buy a new gun. I was curious if i just got a 24" barrel with a interchangeable choke would that be an effective clay bird/turkey gun. Last edited by danrp; October 7, 2004 at 12:22 PM. |

500atp8
So, where does my Model 500ATP8 fit?
12 gauge, 20" barrel, 8-shot (7 in magazine tube plus one in the chamber)... the barrel attaches at a different point than the 6-shot versions. |

if you the standard length magtube all you need to do is buy the extra barrels you need, unless you have the 9shot model.

Not standard length mag tube
My 500ATP8 has a longer-than-standard magazine tube. That's why the standard barrels won't fit it.
Anyone know Mossberg's part numbers for the barrels with the attachment bolt closer to the muzzle end (than standard)? |

...and don't forget the 90210 - gold plating, ivory inlay, silicone-filled stock.
