I'm looking for a manual on the care and feeding of a 1911 government (actually a Kimber Stainelss Classic). Pictures are nice.

What gunsmithing I do on a 1911 is based on Hallock's Book of the .45. It has good photos and drawings, plus understandable text.

Much of it is given over to Colt-specific info, such as proofmarks and years of manufacture for serial numbers.

It's around $11 or $12, at gunshows.

There are a couple of others; folks will chime in with their own recommendations...

Regards,

Art

Also Layne Simpson has an excellent book, don't recall the title at the moment as a friend has the book. Bill Wilson also has a book out that is good general reading.
