Installing Night Sights on handgun

I've decided I need some better sights on my xd subcompact 9mm. I can hit a 10 inch target at 15-20 yards every shot with crap ammo and white dot sights. I detest then though. I can barely focus on my front sight and I'm going to change this. So my question is this:

Should I take it to a local smith and do this? Or is this something I should be able to handle on my fixed sight gun? I'm not particularly skilled at this stuff, but I have several family members who are very technically inclined. I'm trying not to spend too much on this.

Ps

Recommendations on sights are cool with me lol.

You'll need a sight pusher for the rear, at minimum. Probably need the correct nutdriver for the front sight as well.

Unless you plan on doing a bunch of these, its easier to just pay the local smith to put em on.

Its not hard, maybe 5 min of work, but without the proper tools its darn near impossible.
