What does it matter which rounds is easier on your ears. They all will cause hearing loss. BUY and wear hearing protect at any range with any cartidge. If defending your life BUY and use a quality rounds defence ammop to protect your life and if you loose some hearing!! So be it. Don't use underpowered ammo there. Just besure you can control seberal quick shots. That is why many look at a quality 38sp+P rather than full house 357 loads in short barrels.
