Laws on selling parts of firearms?!

I live in indiana, and im wondering if there is any restrictions on parts of a gun that you can or can not sell in the same state, or from one to another? Like if someone bought any random part would it need to go threw an ffl or not?

The only part of a normal (i.e. non-NFA gun) that is federally regulated is the receiver. Any other part is fair game. Now some states have some funky regs on magazines and stuff but that's another story.

Yep, the frame or receiver (usually the part with the serial number on it) is the only thing that is technically considered a firearm.

So, i could sell every single piece by themselves except the reciever huh? Ok then. But what can i do with the reciever after?

You can still sell it, but the same rules apply as if it were a complete gun. FFL transfer for interstate sales, local & state rules & so on.

Depending on what kind of gun it is there may or there may not be a decent market for the receiver only. Do you have a particular gun in mind? Is it one that is damaged in some way so that you are looking to recoup your loss by parting out the good parts?

I'd have a hard time believing there is any kind of a real market for bare Model 60 receivers. If you really want to sell the gun, you are probably better off just selling it whole. If there are parts problems, just disclose that in the sale.

a nonoperating Luger for $50.00. In the add below you could buy the fireing pin to make it operational.

If you really want to sell the gun, you are probably better off just selling it whole. If there are parts problems, just disclose that in the sale.
