Question About Reloaded .223/5.56
I just traded some mini-mag ammo for 400rds of what he said was Dixie Ammo Dump (reloaded) 5.56 62gr SS109. All of it looks, for the most part, clean and free of defect. A few tiny dents mid-case here and there and some case discoloration but otherwise fine.
I noticed a few of different headstamps in the mix. WCC, LC, TAA, PMJ and lastly... .223 Rem. The majority have the cross and circle. Only a few have the .223 stamp. The question is, did I really get 5.56? Can you load a .223 case up to 5.56 pressure safely? Or is the majority of it likely 5.56 cases loaded to .223? Needless to say, I'm not incredibly worried about it because of how cheap (relatively) I got it for. I traded 15 boxes of mini-mags for it which only cost me $60 back when I bought it. I'm sure the guy is going to re-sell the mini-mag ammo. Oh well, ultimately I only paid 15 cents a round. You can't even buy TulAmmo .223 for that cheap. |

Dixie Ammo Dump is a business that I trust. Own of the owners also owns snipersparadise.com and goes by the handle Shep. Odds are they were selling commercially reloaded 5.56 ammo made by another manufacturer. I'd give them a holler, 706-654-5614 and ask if they ever sold that load, possibly manufactured by Georgia Arms.
Of course once it is out of original packaging, there is no way to know who loaded it. Odds are it will shoot just fine and you'll have no problems with it. Jimro

One more time..............223 and 5.56 cases are the same. What were they fired in the first time? The chambers of the various rifles are what constitutes the difference in nomenclature.

I have bought that same ammo from Dixie Ammo Dump and its GTG. I actually live about 1 mile from them. Cliff is a good guy.
