Is the NewPosts search output limited?

I get to visit with my computer only on weekends and so only visit The Firing line weekly as well. I end each visit by marking all posts as read so that, at my next visit, the New Posts search allows me to review new material. Over the past few months (I have not collected data), the New Post search has presented me with exactly 400 posts with a (perceived) frequency that seems unnatural. Has random chance actually led to a new post count of 400, or am I seeing the workings of some setting in vBullitin and so should be searching forum by forum over dates since my last visit?

400 posts is the setting for the maximum search results to return.

You should probably search either by forum (General Discussion, Legal and Political) or by parent forum (ie Hogan's Alley, The Conference Center) to get more complete results.
