barrel length

I am looking to get a new shotgun. Primary use is goose hunting , but I will also use it on dove, ducks, and clays(fun only).
I am looking at a 24"bbl. any negative things about having abbl this short? I have been told that there is no real patterning or ballistic performance advantage after it is 18"

BBl length affects the balance and "Feel", but I know of no disadvantages with a shorter bbl. I use a 21" bbled 870 on geese and dove frequently. A more conventional long bbl might appeal to most folks, but it works for me...

If you like it, and can hit with it,why not?
