CZ Magazine Release

I have a CZ 85 Combat that has a nice extended checkered magazine release button. My CZ 75 Kadet pistol has a smoother, beveled and shorter release button. I called CZ and they said all release buttons on those models are interchangeable, so I ordered a CZ 85 Combat magazine release for my Kadet. So far, I have broken 2 screwdrivers, and my gunsmith blocked it up on this drill press table and put a bit in the press and turned the quill by hand, and broke his bit too. He said that is the first screw he has been unable to turn and he is an old man. That screw is too small to be in that tight. Any suggestions? Think they used Locktite? I suppose I could use some heat. Anyway I want to know if anyone has changed the magazine release on one of these pistols. Thanks.

Use heat first like you thought.Try Kroil and let it sit. Call CZ and make sure it's not reverse thread.

Do those pistols have the same mag release as the CZ 75 with the screw holding in the two-limb mag catch spring and also the sear bar spring?

If so, I wouldn't apply heat as you can ruin both springs and possibly damage the frame. The cross slots in that screw head are very deep and a proper screwdriver should remove it. Note that in spite of the cross slots, it is not a Phillips screw.
