Picked up Colt Defender 45acp

So I went through with my trade of my guitar amp for this Defender with about 50rds through it. Man I am glad I did because it's a sweet pistol. And I considered trading it off for a Kimber Pro Raptor II, not happening! So any mag advice? Quality in stock leather IWB? Defense round preferences?

1st thing I did was ditch those ugly grips . Get some nice wood. I use Corbon DPX as my carry load.

Different people have different taste. For me the wood grips are too slippery. For decoration they are fine, for furniture too.

Most 1911 folks like Check-Mate magazines. Check-Mate happens to be one of Colt's OEM magazine suppliers, so they know a bit about making 1911 mags. They sell direct through their own web site, and Colt now has a web store from which you can order parts.

Have a few CheckMates and Colt OEM mags (same thing) all run fine.
+1 on ditching that awful grip.
I went with a Colt part. Simple.

I'm a big fan of Wilson Combat mags in my 1911.

Thanks guys. I have to WC mags in the mail. Ran a few rounds through yesterday, no issues with stock mags or any round. So ill run the Critical Defense I have left. My go to Holster guy, Luke @ AdamsHolsters has a 3in iwb in stock so I got lucky.

This pistol shocked me, it did not feel like I was shooting a 45acp at all.
