All-time most-popular Glock model

I've been digging and searching past post/threads about Glocks, and still the question remains....What is the all-time most-popular Glock model? ANyone care to chime in?

Mine is the G19, though I actually carry the G26 more often. Still, if it came down to ONE model, the G19 would get my vote.

Same gun... Diff caliber

I choose the G23.

I think the size is perfect. Big enough to shoot well, small enough to carry everyday, everywhere. Large enough mag capacity to keep the gun feed in a SD encounter. Able to attach a light if wanted

I had a 26 as a BUG, but i always put Pierce grip extensions on it to better control muzzle flip. That made it as big as a 23 in grip length. I finally decided to just get a 23..... Never looked back

In my mind its the best overall SD pistol ever

It is kinda like the goldylocks story.... Not too big, not to small... This one is just right.

G19 is standard for so many agencies that buy dozens or even 100's at a time... So that'd be my guess for most-produced now, but the G17 has a lot of years "up" on it so that could be the overall numbers leader... I'm just speculating.

I second the G19. Its a great "intermediate" size and weighted pistol. Its at the "top" end of size for CC for me but doable. Its accurate, lightweight and holds plenty of rounds. Its rugged enough to handle everyday range use as well. Thats my vote.

I don't have a link to prove it, but have read that the G-17 is the most common world wide. The G-19 is the most common in the USA.

I like both, but don't shoot the 17 any better so I cannot see using the bigger gun. I ended up giving it to my son and bought a 2nd G-19.

Possibly, Once again I have no proof, but all the uniformed officers I see are carrying full size G17 or G22's depending on the caliber chosen by the dept. The mid-size G19 and G23's are more common among detectives and others not always in the field. Not saying it isn't so, but I've not seen the midsize Glocks issued to uniformed officers. Of course I've not been everywhere either.

I think the mid-size guns are far and away more popular among non-LE folks buying for HD or carry.

I see police officers in my area all carrying Glock model 22's. I personally love my G23 4th gen. .357 sig conversion and 9mm conversions are readily available.

I've had a 17, 19, 23 and then another 23-this time in 4th gen. I was happy with all of them, but the 23 in any generation is probably my favorite. I can carry it on and off-duty and it fits my hand best.

It's interesting that it's primarily the 9/40 Glocks that are listed. I just traded my Beretta 92FS to my son-in-law for a G21 he took in on trade. While it shoots well, it is just too big to be a "favorite".

Glock 17 9x19mm pistols.....

My vote would be the Glock 17 9mm(9mm Luger).
It's in service with many LE & military units all around the globe.
The G 17 series has been around since the mid 1980s in the USA. 1000s have been sold to armed citizens, cops, security officers, match shooters, etc.

The Glock 22 .40 could be considered the most common LE sidearm in the USA but overall the Glock 17 9x19mm is way ahead of any other Glock model in terms of sales/use.

I thought it was just the opposite.
What I recollect..maybe I have it backwards? :
Sales world wide I believe the G19 has the most and the G17 in the U.S. But that was mostly due to past sales and the G19 has gained ground and popularity over the G17.

I realize it's just a movie/video. Lord of War starring Nicolas Cage on disc 2 of the SE set has a Glock listed as being one of the Weapons of the Trade.

AK-47
FAMAS
Glock 19
M16
M240
HK MP5
RPG-7
UZI

The specs, descriptions and images appear to be accurate to me.

The 17 or 19 is probably the most popular. If the 17 is more popular, I'm betting it is almost entirely due to past sales. I don't know that for sure though.

I am not a Glock fan at all anymore, but having owned a G19 in the past, as well as a G22, G23, G27, G29, G21, and a G20, I would have to say that the G19/G23 is about the best gun that Glock makes as far as size and capacity are concerned. If I had to own one Glock, it would be the G19.

The original question was ....

As I read it the question was not our personal preference but the all time most popular Glock model. Globally that could only be the 17.

If you read the OP's post, you will see that he offered his opinion on which is the most popular.

Define; "popular"....

If by "popular" you mean overall sales since they were first made, Id still say the Glock 17 9x19mm.
The smaller Glock 19(which came out after the 17) may have more supporters now worldwide but Id still put my $$$ on the older Glock 17.

You have to factor in the LE & military services that use the Glock 17 9mm as a sidearm.

For me and my family I have to say G20, the only glock I've ever bought.

Yes I did read the original posting

Although he offered his personal preference, Idaho, his original question was: "What is the all-time most-popular Glock model?"

Knowing which model everyone personally prefers is helpful information as well. The two are different topics.

Because of shooting sports I would say the G17 but the G19 would have to be a very close runner up as the perfect all around firearm. If I could only have one it would be the G19. The 40 cal Glocks were made popular through LEO service.

Glock 17 is definitely the best selling worldwide. Several years until other models came out. LEO contracts, Military contracts, Retail sales all make the Glock 17 their best selling model of all time.

Don't forget the Brits have made it their standard issue sidearm too. That alone is for more pistols than several major police departments combined. Other militaries issue too. Those are huge contracts. I don't even think it's close.

I prefer the Glock 19 but the Glock 17 has definitely sold the most units.
