MINI- 14 gas pipe

I noticed the last time I clean my Mini-14 that the gas pipe [w503600] was loose and I could wiggle it. I called Ruger and they told me this is normal. Gun fires and ejects fine. Is ruger right about play in the gas pipe? I might add I've had the gun since 1984 and probably has at least 500-600 rounds through it. I only shoot it once or twice a year. Thanks for any help.

You are double checking the factory with US? Yeah, baby! This board is the chit.

My gas pipe wiggles too. It's ok.
