Ruger Old Army Value

I have a pair of Ruger Old Armys that I am looking to sell and I can not find the going price for them. They are Stainless, 5 1/2 inch barrel, .45, fixed sight. I know Ruger stopped making the Old Armys back in 1997.

Regardless of how some folks might feel, prices are up and away. I know I would not pay these prices but really don't need any more. I would suggest that you go to GunBroker or other auction site and revew what they are getting; not asking, getting ...

About two years ago, I passed on the SS, 5-1/2" for $475.00 and have been kicking myself in the backside, ever since. .....

Bought one on GB a few months ago. SS, adjustable sights. From 1977. Nice gun. Shoots well. I paid $515.00. Shipping was included in the price.

A cowboy just paid $1000.00 for a pair of used ones and another paid
$1500 for a pair of unfired ones. All just like the ones you have. So
that is the price range for local sales. You might get more going thru
Gunbroker or other auction sites. A lot of times the asking price on
Gunbroker is never realized. The prices I quoted is this summer from
personnal experience. Good luck

The ROA was produced from 1972 until 2008. Not sure where you heard 1997. Ruger website lists serial #s for each production year if you want to see when your guns were made.

I sold my Bicentennial Comemerative two years ago for $400.00, nice holster and accessories included. I'm still crying.

Rifleman- ouch, that hurts. Hope you sold it to someone you know, maybe it will come back to you.Even at an inflated price I would love to own one of those.

I have 4 ROAs. Have 2 blue 2 SS all 7.5" barrels with Adj. sights. The ROA 5.5" SS are up in the $700 dollar range on GB. They are getting too high for me to collect, The Brass frame Mdls are very high as well.

Fixed sight ROA's bring more than adjustable sight models.

5.5" models bring more than 7.5" models.

Stainless, fixed sight, 5.5" models bring the most.

Condition is everything, of course. New in box SS, fixed sight, 5.5" could bring $750 each. Very good used, maybe $550 - $600.

North East Redneck, yes I did sell to a friend. But, I'm not going to try to get it back. I tore up both shoulders, different times and incidents, and couldn't lift a gun of any kind for almost three years. I got very depressed and sold off several items thinking I would never shoot again. I'm back shooting, not well, but enjoying myself.
'stuff' happens. I'll survive.

Rifleman- Sorry to hear of your injuries. I smacked a motorcycle into a curb and then a telephone pole a little over ten years ago. Still hurt everyday, lucky for me it seems to get better with time.
Glad your back shooting as best you can. Stick with it, activity has certainly helped me, took a few years for the back and left leg to function somewhat normally again, I was able to work, but slowly.
Shooting has been therapy for me, hope it helps you.

I hope my post is within the scope of this thread;
Ihave an ROA stainless that I have never fired. I bought it originally as a
back-up to my .50 rifle to go hog hunting. As I've read in other posts, circumstances will change one's plans, I haven't made hog hunting yet and don't even get to shoot as much as I would like, and I'm debating whether to keep it as a shooter or sell it. Can any of you describe the ROA as a shooter in comparison to the 1858 Remy and the 1860 Army?

I enjoy the 1860 Army, the Rogers and Spencer and 1858 New Army, but the Old Army is just, in my opinion, the finest black powder revolver that one can buy at any price. Yes, I know about the Western Arms SAA's and the Feinwerkbau Remington and R&S. It's still the ROA.
