GunVault Bimometric safes (or alternatives)

So I took my CHL class today and the instructor recommended these. I like the fact that you don't have to punch in a code or use a key. I have three kids in my home but still would like to keep a pistol or available with quick access in case of emergency situations. Obviously I cannot just keep a pistol on the night stand with children in the home.

Any experience with these? Or feel free to suggest alternatives.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any gun storage that depends on batteries (batteries die) or keys (keys get lost). Whatever you do, get something that has a combination lock. That said, I like the V-Line series; it has a five button mechanical lock. For a pistol, this would work great.

I've also used the GunVault NanoVault 300 Hand Gun Storage. It's small but it will hold a full sized 9mm.

I like the pushbutton locks like the V-Line and the FAS1 use. I don't want to rely on anything electronic or with a key. Other combination locks that require you to look at to open are useless in the dark. The pushbutton Simplex style locks can be opened very quickly and reliably even in the dark since you do it by feel.

I'd stay away from electronics. They can fail at a critical time. BTW, I think GunVault can be opened with a screwdriver.

The V-line Compact & NanoVault are not safes but secure gun storage. The V-line is best but the Nano is cheaper and I've not heard anything about the screwdriver thing. I doubt I could get it open with a screwdriver ... it would be very difficult. If this is to keep kids away from the gun then both will work fine. A BG will get into both if given enough time because they are not safes.
