Wow! A new Cabela's superstore opened nearby in East Hartford, CT and they're advertising a $100 off sale on the Cabela's .50 Hawken percussion unfinished kits - $219.99. The sale price is not offered on their website but maybe it's also available in some of their other superstores.

This is a very good price and the only problem I have, is that the barrel is unfinished. The last kit I put together, I really had to work on it and had the wife take it to work where they did a "Black Oxide" finish and it turned out very nice. I still like a black finish. This wold make a great winter project and I usually do one a year .....

these kits are usually $20 less than the finished guns. i could never figure that out it would cost more than 20 to get the gun blued which would make it more expensive than the finished guns.
