Peep / Aperture Sight

I recently purchased a box of sights, one is a peep sight marked No. 175 WFC CO. The mounting surface is slightly curved, the screws holes are approx 15/16 of an inch apart. It has both windage and elevation adjustments, any idea what WFC stands for also what kind of gun it may have been mounted on originally?
