Finally got a pig this year
After tromping through the woods many times this year, I finally got a pig on the last public of the year. I was walking into my intended hunt area and I spooked one up. By the time I got my rifle up, it was already too far into the bushes. Then, I noticed movement to my right and saw one through the thick fog trotting parallel to my path at about 40 yds. Dropped her on the run right through the shoulder.
I left her there and continued my morning hunt walking almost 3 more miles in the next two hours without seeing anything else. Best of all, I was able to drive the truck right to her. She was the perfect size. About 90+ lbs and still unbred. |

Congrats on the sow. 90 pounds is the perfect size for some good eating.

Yum! Don't forget the ribs. It wasn't till 6 or 8 years ago that my Dad, my wife, and I discovered the joys of eating wild pig. As my Dad said, "pig meat is so much better than venison that if it wasn't for the antlers on deer you'd have to put a bounty on em to get anybody to shoot em".
