Would any of you comment on the different reloading software products available? I'm interested in the programs that include ballistic calculations (maybe they all do?). I would appreciate info on anything from the freebies to the $50+ s/w available. What are you using & what do you recommend? Thanks.

It doesn't hurt to get more than one, actually. The two I most often use are Sierra's CD with load data and ballistics software, and Load From A Disk for Windows, which crunches out starting loads based on cartridge dimensions, bore diameter and length, bullet choice, etc. I used LFAD to get starting loads on all my obsolete cartridges, as well as my wildcats where no published data was available. Very handy.

I've tried many ballistic programs and generally found them all to be lacking in one area or another, enough so that I'm working with a friend to develop one that works as we think it should. But that program isn't avaialble yet.

Of currently available ballistic software that I've tried there are two that I liked best, one free one for $100 but has a 30 day trial to see if you like it.

The free program is available from http://www.huntingnut.com/pointblank.html

The $100 program can be downloaded at http://www.shootingsoftware.com/

Many people also highly rate the RCBS ballistic software, but there's no demo for it, you have to buy it before you try it.

I hope you find one that works for you.

Loading Software

I use Hornady [A bit conservative] and Sierra [At the UPPER
END]. Both work well. Sierra's printer capability SUCKS.
