Anyone have recommendations on Magnesium Flares for a 12-gauge?

I read reference on the internet to Olin having some on the market...

I am not looking for "red" flares, more the "white" burning flares...

12 gauge flares

U. S. Cavalry used to sell them in their catalogue and may still. The ones they had were white and other colors but were the signaling kind. They might illuminate an area but it would be for seconds. They were more like Roman Candles than anything else.

Flares

Olin makes various signalling kits for boaters. I have one that includes a 12 gauge flare launcher (orange plastic pistol) and several red flares and one white "marker flare." It surely isn't magnesium (?) but it is white. I've never set one off myself. I bet you could order them from Olin.

Will these flares end up annealing the barrel?

If the flare is not specificly for a shotgun, I would not fire it in one of my guns. I've read somewhere of a guy who tried it and scorched his barrel. The payload didn't have enough push to exit properly.

The plastic pistols usually acheive 100 yards or so and do exactly what they are supposed to do. I've had one for a while and like it.
